Despite wild gyrations in the bond market this week, a clear picture still emerges: yields are going lower and lower as punters double down on bearish bets on the economy. For the week we’re looking at declines in German yields of 6-7bps across a bull-flattening curve that inverted for the first time since the global financial crisis. US Treasury yields fell by a chunky 11-16bps across the curve.
